About YowieTech
We're a logistics company that got tired of waiting for the right software, so we built it.
YowieTech is the software arm of Deliver & Store, which runs refrigerated transport across Australia — and it's where every feature of the YowieTech Route Planner came from.
Three decades in the cold chain
Our story starts in 1987 with Chokeby Road, making handmade chocolates for wholesale and retail. By the early 2000s we'd opened Australia's first Lindt store, complete with in-store chocolatiers — an extension of the partnership we'd struck with Lindt in 1999, when our industry standing made us their sole Australian wholesale distributor. That relationship is now past its twenty-fifth year.
Growth pulled us into distribution. Chocobel took us into wholesale with Lindt, Guylian, Anthon Berg and Callebaut. ChocoSuisse and Deliver & Store followed, extending distribution through Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland — tailored logistics for independent retailers and national chains alike. We went on to manage Lindt's Myer department store distribution nationwide, alongside Cadbury and a long list of boutique brands across Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
In 2021 we expanded our Brisbane refrigerated operations to serve regional businesses from Rockhampton in Queensland down to Nambucca Heads in New South Wales.
The transport business is Australian. The software is available worldwide - operators plan in kilometres or miles and cost their runs in their own currency.
Chocolate is an unforgiving product to move. It shows you every degree you got wrong. Three decades of that taught us what a delivery run actually costs, what proof of delivery has to capture, and how fast a temperature excursion turns a full pallet into a write-off.
Why we built YowieTech
We went looking for software to run our own fleet, and we couldn't find one thing that did the whole job.
Route planners optimised the drive but knew nothing about what the run cost. Proof-of-delivery apps captured a signature but not a temperature. Cold chain compliance meant a clipboard, or a separate system nobody remembered to open. Nothing told us, at the end of the week, whether a run had actually made money. So we did what a lot of operators do — a route planner, a POD app, a million spreadsheets and drivers ringing the office constantly.
We built YowieTech to be the one thing. Plan the run and see the real cost before the truck moves. Send it to the driver's phone with nothing to install. Capture the photo, the signature and the delivery temperature as part of the delivery, not as paperwork afterwards. Keep the cold chain record because the load might be refused. See the profit on the run, not just the distance.
During the build phase, we kept adding. Reports for your accountant, reports for HACCP, reports for CO₂ compliance, cost comparisons so you can weigh third-party carriers against each other and against your own business, multi-day run facilitation — and we haven't stopped there. YowieTech is constantly being upgraded with new features. Our next rollout will include a staff time clock, all integrated into the current software.
Our first customer was our own fleet
Our trucks run on YowieTech, Australia wide, every working day. When something is slow, not as good as it could be or missing, we find out the way you would — in the middle of a delivery run, with a driver waiting and the clock ticking. That's a deliberately uncomfortable place to put your own software, and it's the reason the product is built the way it is.
